AFTER SCHOOL

Join us this fall as we launch our new Kid Kitchen Explorers Club! We’ll dive into the vast and delicious world of food, preparing kid-friendly recipes from around the globe. Kids will gain an understanding of basic cooking techniques as we practice our knife skills and explore how ingredients react to heat — steaming and blanching and braising, oh my! We’ll also get to create our own salad dressings and choose which veggies go best. And of course we’ll save time for baking projects and sweets. Instant Pot carrot cake anyone? Or would you prefer cake pops or cookies?

With small group sizes, every kitchen explorer will receive plenty of personal attention. We’ll include flexible recipes so you can experiment to find the way things taste yummiest to you and even make them on your own at home. And because this is more than just a cooking class, we’ll spend time learning about our food, from how edible plants grow to how they get to our table and how different cultures prepare them. Together we will become expert tasters, grow our confidence in the kitchen, and develop a deeper understanding of what it means to eat!

There will be outside time in the school garden, weather and recipes permitting.
